Stress Management The best way to manage stress is through proper diet and exercise. The food we eat can affect how much we feel, as can our exercise. There are many foods that can help to manage stress, including foods like: fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans, lentils, soy products, nuts, and seeds (like chia seeds), and fish, such as trout, salmon, mackerel, tuna, and anchovies. The key to stress management is not to focus on one thing or another, but to focus on the cause. If the cause is an event that caused the stress in the first place, then it will make a difference. For example, the stress of going to a new place and having to share it with others can help. However, if the cause is a negative relationship with someone, such as a relationship with a spouse, that relationship can also have an effect. Some of the ways that the brain controls the body include: • The release of adrenaline. The stress of being on a journey or trying something new. The increase in the production of adrenaline and cortisol (a hormone that promotes a state of stress) by the hypothalamus. This increases activity in the brain. Adrenaline is the hormone released when the brain is under stress.
